engaging in rough play in hockey, usually along the boards or in the corners.

Type: 5. Frequency While mucker and grinder are labels commonly used in hockey in North America in reference to rough players, muck up and its phrases muck it up and mucking it up are most frequently used in Canada (see Chart 1).
COD-2 lists the meaning as "muck" (s.v. "muck" v.4), but does not label it as Canadian.
